BELGIAN GHOST TOWN Becomes Street Artist’s Playground

The 700 year old Belgian town of Doel has become a ghost town. Other than some squatters and a handful of diehard citizens, the town is uninhabited and will be demolished. Doel didn’t become this way because of any typical reasons like lack of employment, rather the government has ordered the citizens to vacate their beloved town in order to make room for the expansion of nearby Antwerp harbor.

Since the forced departing of its residents the town has become something special – a blank canvas to street artists from across Europe, who have left their beautiful creations on the bricks and rubble of its abandoned buildings.
